Dahl Class – Year 3

Welcome to Dahl Class! This class is taught by Miss Worthington and Mr. Shaw, and supported by Mrs. Petchey, Mrs. Briggs, and Miss Aleknaviciute.

We are a Year 3 class named after Roald Dahl. The children have created displays of characters from his books, and we have many of his famous books in the reading corner for them to enjoy.

Class Dojo will be used to update you on any important information and events happening in class. You can also use it to message us if you have any concerns.

Literacy:

In literacy, we will explore different writing genres throughout the year. We will learn about various grammatical and writing features, and use them to produce some amazing pieces of writing.

Mathematics:

In Mathematics we will be building on the skills and knowledge that the children have learnt in year 2.  They will continue to develop and expand their knowledge of times tables/multiplication, addition, subtraction and division. They will also further develop their shape and space skills.

Science:

In science, we will study a range of fascinating topics throughout the year. These include animals (including humans), light, rocks, plants, and forces.

Topic:

Topic lessons will be taught through geography and history lessons. Each half-term will focus on either geography or history. Our geography topics this year are “Countries of the World,” “Where Does Our Food Come From?” and “In the Desert.” Our history topics are “Stone Age to Iron Age,” “Romans,” and “Medicine Through Time.”

Computing:

In computing we will learn about being safe online, how technologies work and develop an awareness of how technology can assist us, but also how it may have restrictions.  We will be looking at inputs, outputs and processes and developing our coding, programming and our understanding of algorithms.

Spanish:

In Spanish we will develop our understanding of the language and learn about the geographical features of Spain and it’s neighbouring countries.  We will revise our knowledge about animals and food.  We will develop our skills in meeting and greeting, and being able to talk about ourselves.

Art/DT:

In Art/DT we will be learning about patterns and developing this into different types of weaving.  We will be experimenting with materials and colours.
